Parish Nursing Ministry
“Peace of mind gives health of body. --Proverbs 14:30
A Parish Nurse is a registered nurse committed to the healing mission of the church.
These care-givers have answered a call from God to be advocates of physical, emotional and spiritual wellness within the church; working to help congregational members find support in crisis or with day to day struggles.
They work directly with the ministry team to assist parishioners in their search for wellness and a better quality of life.
Often times they are members of the parish staff and help bring healthcare and related services to the church family in a number of ways.
Parish Nurses are: health counselors, health resources and referrals, health educators and health support facilitators.
The Parish Nurse Does Not:
- Replace the priest or deacon
- Replace other health professionals
- Recommend medical interventions
- Provide invasive hands-on care
The Health and Wellness Committee of Emmanuel Episcopal Church is dedicated to carrying out the healing ministry of the church.
The committee sponsors health-related activities through existing church and community programs, develops and conducts new programs and activities, and oversees the overall body, mind and spiritual health of the congregation.
